TITLE: Youth Services Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, performs administrative, supervisory and professional work for the County Library System by managing Youth Services for the Main Library and the Branch Libraries. Work involves selection and supervision of employees and volunteers assigned to the Youth Services Department. Employee is responsible for overseeing the selection of print and digital resources for the entire library’s children’s and young adult collection, including managing the Youth Services department budget. Evaluates use of collection and removes or replaces lost, damaged or underused materials and resources. Responsible for programs provided to children, young adults and parents in the library both at the Main Library and the Branch Libraries, including planning and conducting programs. Provides guidance to children, young adults and parents in use of the Library, including reader’s advisory. Works with community agencies and institutions serving children and young adults, including schools, child care facilities, and other government or non-profit organizations to promote library services. Employee must exercise a very high degree of initiative and independent judgment in all aspects of the performance of job functions. Employee must have excellent communication skills and exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public. Reports directly to the Library Director.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Library Science; three (3) to five (5) years of library experience preferred; one (1) to three (3) years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a North Carolina Public Library Certification. Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday / 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
SALARY RANGE: $46,423.09 – $72,002.48 (32E)
