Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM and any evening and weekend meetings and events.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

The Greensboro Public Library seeks a dynamic, capable, enterprising advocate for youth library services. This position, under the direction of the Library Director, is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating programs, services, and resources for children and teens. The chosen candidate is expected to develop collaborations, remain visible within the community, coordinate system-wide youth and teen services activities, events, programs and training. The successful candidate must have excellent decision making, communication and organizational skills. The Youth Services Coordinator will serve as the liaison between the Greensboro Public Library and various community organizations serving children, prepare and submit recommendations concerning coordination of supportive services relevant to Greensboro Public Library Youth Services, prepare, submit, and/or summarize various routine and non-routine reports relevant to children’s services, and coordinate the planning of special events and programs such as the Summer Reading Program. The Youth Services Coordinator promotes Library children’s and teen services by writing articles, speaking publicly and conducting press interviews. This individual may serve on the Library’s Leadership Council as the Youth Services Representative.

The job is EXEMPT under FLSA.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with 4-6 experience working in Children’s Service
    Or Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience working in a library educational youth and children’s services division and 4 years supervising or managing a children’s and youth services division
  • 4 to 6 years of experience working as a Librarian
  • 2 years of management or supervisory experience in a library

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science
  • Experience working as a children’s or youth services librarian in a public library system.
  • Experience in Collection Development for Children and Teens.
