Classification: Part-Time Non-Exempt Staff; 10-month position
Schedule: Hours: Sundays-Thursdays 6pm-11:15pm (Main Campus academic sessions; Fall & Spring semesters only; hours extended/adjusted during exams)*
The Evening Facilities Manager provides guidance, discipline, and encouragement to the Student Assistant staff and works cooperatively with the Reference Librarians to cultivate a Library environment that is conducive to both individual and group study. It is also the responsibility of this individual to serve as caretaker of the facility.
Supervise and assist in the training of Student Assistants at the Circulation, Periodical, and Reference Desks
Maintain close communication with the Public Services Manager to:
o Provide guidance to Student Assistants regarding assigned duties
o Encourage, support, and assist in the training of the Student Assistant staff
o Provide consistent level of high-quality patron service at the Circulation and Periodical Desk during evening hours
o Ensure patron issues concerning access to information, Library policies, and facility use are addressed with poise and courtesy
Deliver front-line assistance with technological applications and equipment in the absence of IT Help Desk staff
o Library Computer Lab
o Photocopies, Scanners, etc.
Monitor facility on regular basis
o Maintain an awareness of who is in the facility and report any situations that may need attention to the Reference Librarian and/or Campus Safety
o Communicate with Academic Resource Center (ARC) and Writing Center Evening Managers
Maintain an atmosphere among patrons that is conducive to a typical library environment
o Address any issues that may be detrimental to that environment
o Respond to complaints about or incidents of inappropriate behavior disrupting patrons’ academic pursuits
Work closely with Campus Safety regarding safety issues and medical emergencies
o Provide first-level response to facility malfunctions and ensure the welfare of building occupants as per the Library’s Disaster Plan
Close Library each evening (Sundays – Thursdays)*
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Computer experience (specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word)
Managerial abilities, analytical skills, flexibility, and creativity in problem solving
Crafted skill in written and oral communications
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work with Library staff, faculty, students, and community patrons
