SALARY: $25,900.00 – $42,944.00 annually
NOTE: The North Carolina Justice Academy is a unit of the North Carolina Department of Justice. Its mission is to improve the quality and effectiveness of criminal justice services to the citizens of North Carolina through research, education, training, and support for criminal justice and related personnel. The Academy does this through a variety of in-service and advanced training courses. Thousands of police officers, deputies, detention officers, and telecommunicators each year complete training with the Academy on its two campuses (Salemburg and Edneyville) or through its online training portal.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
DUTIES: This position is located at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg, NC and is assigned to the Instructional Support Services Center. This position’s primary job is to oversee the Academy audio-visual library and coordinate audio-visual equipment on campus. This position interacts with the public (internal and external clients) daily, and will correspond on a regular basis with law enforcement members involved in training and needing library resources to conduct training and research.
The position maintains classroom and portable A/V equipment, schedules equipment for instructor use, performs regular preventive maintenance, and orders replacement equipment and supplies. This position also works in conjunction with the Library Supervisor in the performance of technical duties in the library including but not limited to cataloging, interlibrary loan, acquisitions, collection development, and customer service.
The position assists in the supervision of a part-time library assistant and serves as the Library Supervisor in that person’s absence. This position generally works Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Extended hours and weekend work may be required in adjusting to needs of special client groups.
