Library Associate, Research Services Division (part-time) – High Point Public Library, High Point NC

The City of High Point’s Public Library seeks to fill a part-time (34 hrs/wk) Library Associate position in the Public Computing Center. Individual will provide computer assistance and reference service to the public, which involves communicating in person or on the telephone; assist the public to use software and computer equipment provided in the Public Computing Center; monitor equipment and reports any problems to the supervisor; take responsibility for daily operation of Public Computing Center in conjunction with other unit staff members; assist the unit supervisor in planning and presenting training for the public and library staff as requested; maintain knowledge of and proficiency in use of current and emerging computer software and equipment; and accepts cash, check and credit card payments for copies and faxes.

Position requires an undergraduate degree in liberal arts studies; training and experience in the use of computers, word processing, database management, and other computer software; be able to relate to and communicate effectively with the public, other employees, and supervisors to maintain a positive customer service and work environment. Must have good listening skills; be able to follow written and oral instructions and maintain thorough knowledge of current computer software. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Public library experience and some retail experience preferred. Salary starts at $13.78 hourly with excellent benefits depending upon qualifications and experience.
